About me
Who is writing this?
Hi, I’m Mike.
I am neither a former professional cyclist nor a certified coach. I am a passionate cyclist with an insatiable curiosity about why things work. No guru, no salesman peddling magic formulas. Just someone who reads, researches, tests, and learns.
Everything I share here is drawn from two core sources:
- Scientific studies – conducted by researchers who dedicate their lives to exercise physiology.
- Personal experience – trial-and-error on the road, on the trainer, and during recovery.
My ambition? To translate that knowledge into accessible language for the cycling enthusiast who wants to understand the science but doesn’t have the time to plow through academic papers. No impenetrable jargon, no unnecessary complexity. Just: what works, why it works, and how you can apply it.
⚠️ An important disclaimer (please read)
Before we dive deeper, here is the obligatory disclaimer.
The opinions, insights, and interpretations I share are my own. They are shaped by the knowledge I have gained from scientific literature and my personal experiences. They do not constitute a ready-made training program, they are not medical advice, and they are certainly no replacement for a professional coach or sports physician.
What this blog is: an invitation to think, experiment, and discover for yourself what works for you.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Everyone is physiologically unique. What works for me might yield different results for you.
- I do my absolute best to verify information and present it accurately. However, science never stands still – insights evolve, new studies emerge, and I can make mistakes too.
- You are always personally responsible for the application of what you read here. Listen to your body, consult an expert if you are in doubt, and never force anything that doesn’t feel right.
In other words: read, learn, ask questions, and feel free to make it your own. But do it with common sense.
